All of these photos were taken this week at the Norfolk Botanical Garden, where some of us had been speculating as to why the fall seemed less colorful this year, when in fact, it was just very late. If you want to know what is what, just hover over or click on the photos for plant names.

  1. Less colorful? I am thinking it has been more colorful this year than in years past, however at my age I can't rely on my memory much anymore. LOL Be it more or less it is colorful none the less. :)

  2. Wow. You're lucky to have such a late fall. Beautiful. I've always regretted not being able to grow farfugium (too cold here).

  3. So sorry for your dull job. :) Thanks for sharing your beautiful public space. I'm so glad I finally got you in my Feedly account. Between your sporadic posts and my sporadic reads, I miss a lot of these posts. Now I'll go back and read past ones on rainy days.

  4. Fall in your office arrived late; all my (Seattle) maples been naked for sometime now.
The Gingko is breathtaking; such a perfect form! What's with the Kniphofia? Does it always bloom so late? It has the most unusual look.

  5. Oh yes, you have a stunning office, don't you?! I do believe your autumn was more stunning than ours this year. Summer lasting well into October, and then the peak of autumn lasted a few days--not even close to the impact of last year. But we've had a mild autumn in the upper Midwest, which is continuing (so far) with a mild winter. All of your images are incredible, but the Ilex ... and the Gingko photos ... wow!

  6. just gorgeous, one after another. my dad called his garden "the office," too. our orangie barn cat went with him to the office every day to help. --suz in ohio

  7. That is my idea of the perfect office: peaceful and serene. Thanks for sharing the beauty.

  8. Ahhh Les. Here in Nova Scotia we pride ourselves on our late, long, lovely Falls. Sadly ours was over weeks ago. Wish I lived in your neck of the woods, 'cept for the gun-mania thing and Trump. ;-)

  9. Who decorated your office? I'd like something similar where I work & maybe they'd hire your person... Beautiful images. I'm a bit envious or your workplace!

  10. Beautiful! Fall is always late here in Austin. Looks like we're on the same schedule this year.

  11. Have never seen kniphofia at this time of year!
